THE ULTIMATE AIM: The concise history of the KUGB and Enoeda Sensei -
inseparable in the chronology of British Shotokan.
This programme contains rare film clips and tributes.
Senior karate masters from Europe and the USA give
their views on the past, present and the future of karate -
especially with the spectre of Olympic 'sport' karate
hanging over the art.
The programme is not simply a dry documentary.
It contains action clips from the early days of the KUGB -
Sherry, O'Neil, Poynton, Cattle and many others. Hear
how Enoeda was viewed as both a tiger and a gentleman
in the USA in the early 1960s.
BRENNAN - A PROFILEFrank Brennan has a history that is unequalled
by any other British karate-ka. This programme
pays tribute to his outstanding ability as a
fighter and supreme kata exponent, as well as
a fine ambassador for the art. At the 1990
world championship, Japanese team coach,
Ex-World Champion Masahiko Tanaka said
that the one man that the entire Japanese
Team were specifically trained to beat was
Frank Brennan.
Watch Frank’s superb calm and sportsmanship
after being hit very hard in the mouth, seconds
after yamae had been called during the 1985
ESKA championship in Istanbul.
Take a look at some of his most dynamic
fights, and listen to the comments of those
who knew him as a young boy, and also from
fellow KUGB squad members.
